9/11 Fallen Hero Project

Our Mission

To help the families of injured Firefighters, Police Officers and Military personnel get through immediate monthly expenses while waiting for further assistance to arrive

To help departments and personnel with programs and resources to obtain needed training and equipment to enhance their capabilities within their departments.

Honoring Mike

The 9/11 Fallen Hero Project was created in honor of Mike Korsch, a 9/11 survivor. Mike was serving as a NYPD detective at the time of the attacks. Mike spent the next 9 months working in the NYPD morgue, aiding and searching for the fallen. He helped identify over 500 victims for their families.

Today, Mike suffers daily from the after effects of that day, both mentally and physically, after a battle with cancer from the dust and a subsequent stroke.

Mike's Vision

Mike has since retired to Georgia. His ultimate goal in retirement is to give back to the Fire and Police communities, and to our military personnel. With his vast knowledge of over 40 years of experience in both Fire (Mike served as the Volunteer Fire Chief in Copiague-Long Island, NY for many years) and Police departments,  the 9/11 Fallen Hero project offers training and development to rural communities in Georgia who may not have the intense and unique training offered by big city departments.

Help Support Our Fallen Heroes

Make a $ Donation

Most (but not all) disbursements are a one-time check for $1000 to help recipients and their families get through immediate monthly expenses while waiting for further assistance to arrive. This amount may vary due to high/low volume of donations. All funds are comprised of donations by the local community and fundraising events.
